Does anyone or can anyone explain what the overhead (in terms of memory, storage, CPU etc.) of using the 'Save as draft' feature in Laserfiche forms might be?

It is simply some transactions to the database to store the saved values. Should be insignificant in most environments. Try saving a draft and viewing the database size increase to check storage. If your planning on thousands of drafts being saved per minute then you would likely need to use web performance testing software to reproduce the scenario with memory and CPU counters running.
