Disabled Activity for existing workflows in process, activity shows as disabled in history view but runs anyways

The activity Email 2 is shown as disabled in this history of the workflow but the activity list shows the activity as being run and the user did receive an email. The activity was disabled yesterday.

We would need more information to figure out what is going on. With just a screenshot, maybe you published the update to the workflow while the escalation was running. The activities contained in it would not update in that case, only changes past that activity would apply, which is why the email would still send. 

If that is not the case, please provide more detail so we can figure out what is going on.
