list field access denied

Hi Guys,

Okay so an issue was raised because when a user was making a change to the list field on a template it would come up access denied but still accept the changes.

I made all the security changes and found that to remove the “access denied” issue then I had to give the user modify rights to all the fields in the template.

Or if the user goes into the field (instead of the template) and adds to the list then it accepts it no problem.

 

I have offered them both as work arounds but he doesn’t want the user going into fields and he doesn’t want to give them modify to all fields within that template.

 

He has said before upgrading to LF admin 9.2 this worked without an issue but now it is a problem.


Can you tell me what changed? & if anything else I can do?

Hi Tina,

We have tested this case. In Metadata Management > Templates, as long as the user only change the fields he has "Modify Field" rights to, there should be no "access denied" error.  As you mentioned, in Laserfiche Admin Console 9.2, the list field changes can actually be made despite of the error message. So you can just ignore that error message for now. We have filed a ticket to get rid of that message.

thank you very much for getting back to me. I have contacted the client and explained that it is a bug and you have filed it to be fixed.

They wish to know when this hotfix will be released, do you have any ideas?

Hi Tina,
 

The fix is currently targeted for the upcoming Laserfiche 10 release.  It's also likely that we will release another 9.2.1 Service Pack afterwards.

Hi Niqi Li,

 

As Laserfiche 10 has now been released can you tell me if the reported bug has now been fixed? I checked the release notes but could not see this mentioned for 10 or 10.1.

Hi Tina,

 

Thanks for the follow up. As I checked our list of changes in Laserfiche 10 Admin Console, that ticket actually got slipped through. As a workaround, please edit the list value from the field itself instead of the template for now. We will get this issue fixed in the next LF 10 service pack.
