Error with LaserFiche Web Access

asked on August 1, 2015

I'm receiving an error after installing the LaserFiche Web Access. Attempted to reinstall IIS and Web Access but same error still occurs. We're on a Windows Server 2012 R2 platform.

Server Error in '/Laserfiche' Application.

There are multiple root elements. Line 26, position 2.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Xml.XmlException: There are multiple root elements. Line 26, position 2.

It sounds like one of your configuration files has been corrupted, probably either web.config or one of the ones in C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files\Config.  There should be a stack trace in the event viewer that will give more specific information about what it going wrong.

What version of Web Access are you installing? Is this an upgrade or a clean install?

Did you manually edit either the web.config (under c:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files) or the WebAccessConfig.xml (under c:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\Web Files\config)?

Those are the two main XML documents Web Access reads from for configuration info. My guess is that the xml is malformed in one of those two documents.

You might also want to try repairing the install.

Attempted to reinstall but same error occurs on Web Access 9.2.1. Didn't make any changes to the web.config. Everything is default. IIS works for LaserFiche Mobile Configuration but doesn't work for Web Access. Attempted to reinstall IIS with same error occuring.

Open a support case with your reseller. Please provide a copy of your WebAccessConfig.xml and Web.config with the case, so that when they pass it on to our support team we can investigate.
