Question

Speeding up the OCR process from Quick Fields

asked on July 31, 2015

I was wondering if you use the OCR Image option from Import Agent when sending documents to a folder in the Repository, can Quick Fields retrieve this OCR'd Text, process the document and store it back to the Repository to a different folder?  Would this allow you to exclude the OmniPage OCR feature in the QF session to speed up the OCR process on documents?  (OCR first from Import Agent then, process and send to repository).  I'm working with Scanned Tiff files from our copier scanners.

Does this option allow you to retrieve the OCR'd text?

OCRing documents will produce text pages, regardless of whether that happens in Import Agent, the Client or Quick Fields. If that text already exists, Quick Fields will retrieve it through Capture Engine.

Be aware though that while your Quick Fields session will get faster without OCR, your import through Import Agent may slow down since you are doing OCR at that point.
