Shortcut: Open Laserfiche With Search Displaying Fields

asked on July 31, 2015

Hi everyone,

I'm in the IT Department of a call centre. I am looking into saving some time for the agents so I have modified the desktop shortcut to bypass windows authentication and to choose the default repository automatically.

Our agents mostly use Laserfiche to perform a search in one of two fields. The search terms vary (they're 7-digit policy numbers) so setting the shortcut to search for a specific term is not useful.

We are a high-volume call centre so my goal is to have Laserfiche start as effortless as possible.

With that in mind I would like LF to start with the search pane open, with two Fields ready for the agent to input a string into it.

I've tried using:

-S"{[]:[Field1]="*"}"

...which searches indefinitely

We are using version 8.1 and will move to 9.1 soon

I don't actually need Laserfiche to return any search results, but merely have the search with 2 Fields available on start up.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

In the Client, go to Tools > Options > Browser > Settings and check the option to "Save pane layout." This way if you are in the search pane when the Client is closed, then the next time it's open, it will default to the search pane.

As for also defaulting to the search across the two fields, the 8.1 Client won't be able to do that unfortunately. The 9.1 Client will though. In the meantime, you can save the search so that way you'll just have to load it once whenever the Client is opened.

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for the quick reply.
That work around works for 8.3 as it  Saves the pane layout (with my 2 fields that I want).

In 9.3 it doesn't seem to remember the Fields options when I close/re-open LF
(My input is: Customize Search > Choose Fields... > [select 2 fields])

Can you elaborate on the 9.1 client being able to search across 2 fields?

To clarify: I do not need the search term to be searched across two fields. I need 2 Fields o be available to accept a search term in either field

Hope this makes sense, let me know if I need to clarify

Thanks,

N

Here's a quick video demonstration of using the 9.1.1 SP2 Client.
