Question

Question

backup & restore

asked on July 31, 2015

I need to do backup and restore of my Laserfiche Server. I have few queries:

  1. How can I restore configurations for Web Access, Workflow, Forms, Mobile instead of configuring all the products again.

  2. What is LFSNU.db? Where it is?

  3. How can I temporary disable or activate users in a single click?

  4. While exporting Groups as xml it contains Users (trustees) but when I will import it, server may have Users (trustees) created/imported or not. So it will give error for its members (either Users or Groups)

  5. While exporting Users as xml it contains Groups but when I will import it, server may have Groups created/imported or not.

  6. What about Folder Security and Template field security?

  7. What about External tables? I need to configure my dynamic fields for all template again, why? How can I make it automize?

  8. What about Forms DataSource, field rules and look up fields?

1. Check out this presentation on Backup and Recovery. It contains information about all the components that need to be backed up.

2.  This is the Laserfiche Server Named User database which contains a list of all your named user license information. Default location is C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Server. Some information about backing this up can be found here.

3. For Avante, within the Admin Console, if you right click on a user, you can assign/remove licenses, which will disable their access to your repository. For Rio, you will need to assign/remove licenses via License Manager/LFDS.

4/5/6. Whilst you can take a export a copy of groups and users as an XML, the repository database stores all this information regarding users, groups and security. If you have a backup copy of the database, then all user security can be restored (refer to the presentation).

7. External tables will need to be backed up. Most backup software can help automate backing up of the database automatically. Backing up your repository database will retain your dynamic field configuration and will work correctly, so long as it is pointing to the correct location.

8. For Forms, you need to backup the Forms database and the tables that the lookup fields are pointing to.
