Question

Forms with Chrome

asked on July 29, 2015

We have a customer who uses chrome version 43.0.2357.

One user submits a form using chrome, forms does not apply a template to the form before transferring it into Laserfiche. But a another user uses chrome, submits a form & the fields & template get applied correctly. Are there any steps which we can take to further debug the situation as it initially looked like a browser problem but turns out it is not.

Please check the Application event log in the Windows Event Viewer on the Forms Server. See if there are any errors reported at the time of the form submission when you notice that the metadata fields aren't getting applied.

Is that the complete text of the error message reported in the application event log? It doesn't seem complete.

Look for the actual Laserfiche field that indicates "Bad field value. [9017]"

Then find out which specific form field is being mapped to that Laserfiche field and see if you can tell why it's being reported as a bad value. Perhaps the value in the form exceeds the width of the Laserfiche field, etc.

I can check that Alex, but the form works with IE with the exact fields & templates but not with chrome. So i am not sure if that will help.

The browser shouldn't be a factor. Did you confirm that the form was filled out with the exact same values when testing between the different browsers? For example, if you have a Laserfiche field for last name with a width of 10 characters, and when filling out the form in IE with the last name set as "Smith" whereas when using Chrome to fill out the form, using the last name "Fitzpatrick" then that would give the appearance that the issue is only with Chrome.
