Do the different Laserfiche products that require SQL databases support using Azure SQL?

As of Laserfiche 10.4.2 (April 2020), all applications that use a SQL database aside from Audit Trail and Discussions have been tested with Azure SQL and minor fixes have been made.
Applications that support Azure SQL:
- Workflow
- Laserfiche Server
- Laserfiche Directory Server
- Forms
- Quick Fields server
To avoid timeout errors, we recommend provisioning the database in Azure SQL in advance, then attaching the blank database.
The Laserfiche deployment toolkit (https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014181/list-of-changes-for-laserfiche-deployment-toolkit-1-0-2) provides scripts that can provision and attach databases for the above applications, except for Quick Fields server.
This has not been tested, so Azure SQL is not supported at this time. It may or may not work with a particular Laserfiche product if you actually try it out, but it will be an unsupported configuration.

@████████, have there been any additional tests done with Audit Trail and Azure SQL or will it not be supported and we just have to wait for Audit Trail 11?
I'm curious what testing may have been done with using Azure SQL for the Discussions DB. I'm running into this error when I try to use an existing empty DB.
Discussions remains unsupported for Azure SQL. It looks like Discussions is running into one of the issues we addressed with the patches that added support for the aforementioned products.
We do not currently have a planned release to add support for Azure SQL in Discussions.
My apologies for not noting in the previous post that Discussions was not included; I have edited the post to correct this.
@████████ the version of Audit Trail releasing with Laserfiche 11 will work on a system that uses Azure SQL because it no longer requires SQL. Existing versions of Audit Trail will not receive Azure SQL support.

In your initial reply above, you listed
"Applications that support Azure SQL:

- Laserfiche Directory Server

Does this include External Tables? I've tried to set one up in an environment using Azure SQL and I get a 9227 error and I know I'm referencing a valid table.
That's a great question. Can we get Laserfiche to respond on if External Tables are included as a supported feature with Azure SQL?

Hi All,
Is there any change on LF being supported using Azure SQL? If not do we have a rough timeline of when it will? A lot of other vendors already support this configuration.
Cheers!
I have noticed that this KB article for supported configurations does not list Azure SQL. Is that because it is not officially supported by Laserfiche or has the KB article just not been updated to reflect it? I also noticed that it is only for version 10. Is there one for version 11?
Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me if this has changed in 11months?
Is it now supported yet? do we know of anyone using azure sql?
any tips on how to set it up?
Thanks
Tina
I'd be interested in this possibility as well.
interested too
Any update on this?
I can report that I was successful in migrating a LF server database to Azure SQL and connecting LF Server to it and logging into the repository successfully. I did not do extensive testing beyond that and I reverted back since I also was not confident what might happen during things like version upgrade. At least you can know the basic idea seems to work pending more testing.
Jeremy that's great to hear! @████████ can we get an update from Laserfiche? We have several customers and prospects that would like to use the Azure SQL service. Even if it looks like it works, we can't recommend it unless it's a supported configuration from Laserfiche.
Thanks for asking this question OP. I am throwing my hat in under the "interested parties" as well.
I am tempted to do this on our internal system right now.
At this point in time, does Laserfiche Cloud support connections to Azure SQL databases as data sources?
