Question

DCC hanging up on a single document

asked on July 22, 2015

Currently I have attempted to troubleshoot the DCC in various ways so that the process would not hang. I have tried to implement the image enhancements under the additional options for image clean up. I have also limited the number of processes to 1 instead of the amount of cores. I have also changed the time for the application to run in task scheduler. There was an abnormal issue where the document was locked by workflow for the DCC. Though the job did not terminate and when I restarted the service there was no OCR text.

I went ahead and opened the document and OCR'ed it manually through the client. I then checked the event viewer and the document in question was recorded with an error in the event viewer with the entry being locked. Is this normal for the DCC to lock up and not terminate the process if a document is locked?

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions to try to troubleshoot an issue such as this one or if I should take this as an anomaly. The version of the DCC is 9.1.1.44.

The expected behavior for an OCR job on the DCC that contains several documents and one of those documents is locked is:

  • Record an 'Entry Locked' error in the event viewer for the locked document
  • OCR the unlocked documents
  • Record the job as having 'failed'

If this is not the behavior you experienced and your OCR job never completes, please open up a support case.
