Question

Upgrading Forms to 9.2 from 9.1 changed field name under show/hide rule to (), how can I get the names back?

asked on July 16, 2015

I have a complex form that is designed with Laserfiche 9.1.  Few months back we upgraded the client's foms server to LF forms 9.2.    Than imported the exported copy of the client's working form file.

As far a functionality goes, everything is working fine. Than I realized all the name I used to create conditions to show and hide field has changed from name to ()  please see the image below.    Now the customer is asking for some changes in the form that will need me to change the show and hide conditions.

Is there a way to find out what are the variables or names of the field that are changed to ()?

For these fields, are their field labels empty?

Field label is supposed to show on field rule, and when label is empty, variable name with brackets should show instead.

However in 9.2 when label is empty, variable name won't show. This should be a bug and will be fixed in next release, sorry for the inconvenience.

As for the workaround, if you want to identify the fields you can add field labels to them.

Thank Rui,  I took away some of the labels because of spacing on the the page.   But I guess I can temporarily assign label to adjust the hide/show than take them away.

The only issue with this is that I couldn't assign label to values in drop down list item.   There is only one label that applies to drop down list.  I assigned values to choices but it didn't work.

If there is a way to do this please let me know.

Thanks

I didn't quite understand the issue. Did you mean drop-down field? Why would you like to assign label to drop down values? For drop-down field, it would only show as one field in field rule, and it would be named with field label, like this:

Yes, you are correct.  I don't necessary need to show or hide specific items in the drop down list.

I got the anwer. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the hlep.

Hi,

This issue is addressed in Forms 9.2.1 Update1 and Forms 10

  •  The Field Rule page displays the variable name for variables without labels

Thank you.
