Question

Searching on Stamp Names - Only Web Access or via Client using Advanced Search too?

asked on July 14, 2015

I seem to be confused about whether stamp names can be searched in the client or *only* in web access:

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/9.1/en-US/UserGuide/Laserfiche_Client.htm#search/advanced/stamp_name.htm

This seems to indicate that the syntax would work across the client.

But

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/9.1/en-US/UserGuide/Laserfiche_Client.htm#Search/Stamp_Name_Search.htm?Highlight=stamp

"This search option is only available in Web Access. The Stamp Name search enables users to search for documents, in theSearch Pane, that have a stamp applied to them by the specific stamp's name."

Can anyone confirm for me please I have a client who wants to be able to confirm that their users can search across Stamp Names within the clients and is not providing Web Access at this time so it is problematic if they can't access that search in Client.

I suppose if it is only an advanced search syntax it could be saved as a search?

Hi Will,

You can search by the stamp name in Laserfiche Client using the advanced search syntax as well.

However, there is a known issue that if the stamp text contains a token, e.g., %(Date), the advanced search can't return the result, nor can it be retrieved in Web Access.

Hope this helps!

This known issue with tokens still seem to be an issue in 10.3, using both Web Client and the advanced search syntax. Is there a fix for this on the horizon?

Can I get a further clarification on this subject please?

Client needs to know if there is any possibility to return context pane detail about which page in the document the stamp/annotation is?

Looking at the search response the context pane is missing and so I assume it is not possible to know which page the annotation is on only the fact that there is an annotation associated with that document but I would like to confirm this.

Regards

W

No, the stamp search won't return context information. the LF:annstampname just returns any documents that have the stamp applied.
