QuickFields - How to overlay an existing image (template) over the filled image and extract all the details?

asked on July 8, 2015

Hi,

Question #1:

Using Quick Fields, is it possible to overlay an existing image (blank template) over the current image (with filled data) and extract the contents from the current image?

The 'OmniPage Zone OCR' works to some extent, but since the original template has boxes with label names in it and our 'Zone OCR' picks the label names as well (along with the data). We are unable to reduce the size of the 'Zone OCR' since the text can be present in any corners of the box. Hence analyzing the possibilities of overlying the template image over the image with data.

Question #2:

How to use the return value from Lookup in Quick Fields and store it in LaserFiche repository?

Basically we are trying to scan an UserID value from the image and check if it is available in the DB and return true/false. Our downstream processes can use this true/false value if it is stored in the repository.

Question #3:

Our scanned images are sometimes vertically elongated and thus several fields are falling out of the 'Zone OCR' scan range. Since every page has a QR code at the top, is it possible to align the scanned images inline with the 'QR Code' and then re-size the image accordingly & then extract data?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

For question 1:

If I understood correctly, you want to create this overlay because your zone OCR is picking too much information? Instead of an overlay, you can pattern match your zone OCR value to capture the information you want.

For question 2:

You can use either real time lookup or lookup activity to return values. Make sure you are mapping the right lookup tokens to the corresponding Laserfiche fields.

For question 3:

When configuring your zone OCR, try changing from pixel to percentage. This will adjust accordingly based on the size of the document. If this is not suitable then I would suggest drawing a larger zone to accommodate for the elongation.

For question 1, it seems like Form Extraction is what you're looking for.
