Question

OK to modify the Vol table in SQL?

asked on July 7, 2015

One of our customers just let me know that they moved their physical Volume files from the D: drive to the E: drive on their server, and that they modified the FIXPATH field in the VOL table to reflect the new path to their volumes.  The volumes do appear to be functioning properly.

Obviously, we should be making changes like this in the GUI, as opposed to in the SQL tables.  That being said, if they've already modified the volume path in the SQL table, is there anything else that I need to do?  I'm wondering if I need to change the fixpath back to its original value, and then move the volume the correct way (via the Admin Console).

Thanks,

Mike

Yes, that's ok. As a safety precaution, backups (of the volumes and database) should be made prior to making changes like that though.
