Having problems to assign fields to a metadata template

Hi everyone,

I have a WF where I need to assign automatically  two fields at the start of my business process, a staff list and a comment field box. When I tried to use Assign field value and retrieve field to obtain those fields when my document moves to another folder it does not work.

Can anyone help me on this issue? My user needs to be able to update those fields and retrieve them in the document metadata.

Are you getting an error?  Does the Connection Profile account that you are using with the workflow have rights to both fields?  If you log into the LF client with the Connection Profile account used by the workflow, are you able to assign the fields manually independent of Workflow?  If not, please make sure that the Connection Profile account has rights to both fields.

Hello thanks for your reply. I do not get any error and the connection profile account have rights on both fields. I wonder if the activities that I used are incomplete maybe am not using the right one.

My business process starts with the assign value then I enter the fields that I need. I place a retrieve field activity and put the fields that I need again after that I have a wait condition so that when staff list and comments changes the workflow continues. But the thing is that my metadata template I see only one field and not the other.

Do you have a value set for both fields when you assign them? If you try to assign a field but you don't include a default value, the field will not be added. For example, when assigning that Comment field, you need to give it a default value, like Enter Comment Here (or something like that).

Hello Thanks for your answer I did not have any default value assign to them that's why maybe it was not working.
