Dynamic Hyperlink from Client to 3rd Party Website

asked on July 1, 2015 Show version history

We are looking to connect a document via both the full LF client & WebAccess with a corresponding webpage in a 3rd party website.  The hyperlink would need to be clickable and be dynamic utilizing fields within the document's metadata.  I've read of methods for creating custom buttons in WebAccess but that limits a large portion of our users that utilize the full client.  I've also seen where you can create a sticky note with a hyperlink.  While this second option will work, I am hoping to find a more efficient method that takes less clicks.  Has anyone found an easier way to connect a dynamic hyperlink in both WebAccess & the full client to a 3rd party website?  I wish we could just put a hyperlink in a field and it'd be clickable as that'd be an easy solution.

Is there identifying data in the fields to have the needed info to dynamically build the needed url?  If so, then a custom console app built with the LF SDK CAT could do the job.  You add a custom button to the LF document viewer and then when it is cliecked, it can use CAT to pull the data from the current topmost open LF document metadata, create a URL, and open the link in a browser.

EDIT:

I was not thinking.  Have you looked at the LF Connector?

There are several fields in the metadata (PO# & Invoice # specifically) that we'd like to use to build the hyperlink so the user can open Oracle directly to that Invoice and verify/approve it.  While Connector is an option I am hoping their is an out-of-the-box method for doing this directly within the client.  Also, the SDK is custom development and we're trying to stay away from that as much as possible.  I really wish LF would either allow a field type of hyperlink or allow hyperlinks that are in fields to be clickable.  That would be the easiest way to resolve this.

Another option that would be nice is if URL's that are in the Business Process Details would be clickable as a hyperlink, as this would also solve my issue.
