We have been having an issue with Laserfiche Forms constantly timing out. We have determined the cause of the issue is due to firewall configuration for security purposes. The Laserfiche Server is inside of the firewall. The web server, where Laserfiche Forms Web Server is located, is outside of the firewall in the DMZ. All ports required for communication are open from the Laserfiche Server to the Forms Web Server. However, if there is not an active connection between the Forms Web Server and the Laserfiche Sever at least once an hour, the connection is cut and has to be manually reestablished from the Laserfiche Sever to the Forms Web Server to renew to the connection. The “Time to Live” or “Keep Alive” time of the firewall is set to 1 hour.
As a temporary solution, we have created a scheduled task on the Laserfiche Server that runs a Telnet command to the Laserfiche Web Server. This does keep the “Time to Live” connection refreshed. However, we would like to know if there is a better solution available for this issue.
Thank You,
Zach Merrill
