Event Log Errors: The log for database 'ReportServer$LASERFICHETempDB' is not available.

asked on June 22, 2015

I'm seeing lots of these errors in the event log on my LaserFiche server: "The log for database 'ReportServer$LASERFICHETempDB' is not available. Check the event log for related error messages. Resolve any errors and restart the database."

I've checked through the event log for related messages, but can't seem to find any.

These errors will start suddenly at any time, appear hundreds of times, then stop for a day or two, then start again.

I'm getting no complaints from the users about LaserFiche itself, so the errors don't seem to be affecting the operation of the software.

The TempDB file does actually exist in the SQL Data directory.

We're running LaserFiche 9.2, Import Agent 9.0.

Has anyone see this behaviour?

This is not the TempDB, it's the ReportServer$LASERFICHETempDB one. It sounds like your SQL server instance has the reporting feature installed and possibly that database was damaged or improperly restored. You're only seeing "Laserfiche" in its name because that's the name of the SQL Server instance. Laserfiche does not use it in any way, so you wouldn't notice any effect in Laserfiche. This post has some direction on troubleshooting the issue. Microsoft forums might provide more guidance.
