Question

Auto Complete

asked on June 22, 2015

I have a situation when doing an integration with a accounting system where users in the accounting program can type,  211  and their system will return Rolling-Stock:Autos/Equipment: E211 - JD970.  Where Laserfiche template dropdown they would have to know that it started with an R and scroll through several entries that all start with Rolling-Stock:Autos/Equipment: to find the one that has 211 in it.

Currently during testing these are static lists however they could be dynamic lists as well.

So is it possible to get Laserfiche to look for a match anywhere in a template drop down string instead of just the first letter?

Hi Scott,

Currently the List field does not support this. It can only populate the dropdown strings "start with" the letters typed, instead of the ones "contains" them. But we will look into adding it to our backlog.

In your example, to save some scrolling and looking up, you may consider separate the field using Dynamic Fields. So user can select the company name "Rolling-Stock:Autos/Equipment" in the parent field first, then choose the product code in the child field, by typing "E211...".
