Question

quickfields stamps

asked on June 12, 2015

I have some Laserfiche files that were stamped (using the program annotations) with the file name it needs to go into.  I tried to run one through Quick Fields to see if it would be recognized when using Zone OCR.  Quickfields did not pick it up.  Is there a way that I can make Quickfields recognize the stamps?

Laserfiche annotations are not part of the image, so Quick Fields can't read them with Zone OCR.

Is there any way to make the annotation part of the image without using snapshot to make a new document?

Can you attach a sample of a file with a stamp?

Mary Lou Willis,

Is the information you need only inside the stamp or is there some other way you can capture it (e.g., inside a metadata field)?

The stamp contains the information I need.  There may be another way, but stamping is preferred.  It would cut down on entry mistakes.  I guess maybe a list field may work.  We keep have mistakes in the metadata when entering the codes.  The stamp would have made it easier.

If you could use a list field instead of a stamp, that would be ideal. Using a list field will definitely cut down on mistakes, as users have to choose from options in a list instead of typing a code. You could then use the field value in the file name/folder path.

It is possible to retrieve information from a stamp, but it involves scripting and probably Workflow.
