Quickfields logs ingestion with logstash, using Kibana for analysis

asked on June 9, 2015 Show version history

Has anyone used Logstash to pick up the Quickfields logs and any available WMI / perflogs information, for visual analysis with Kabana, to provide a Reporting analysis tool of the performance of the Quickfields sessions ?

We have a customer that is looking for an MI dashboard for reviewing the performance and throughput of their QF processes and sessions. While there are simple dashboards in the QF Agent ( Web Administration Console ) it would be good to analyse the Time To Run, Number of Pass / Fail, for all as well as each session, then to enable forecasting of processing load and execution.

Hello Chris,

I have not found any examples of Logstash being used with Quick Fields logs, but I do want to point out a couple of configuration options that may be helpful when processing this data.

1. The easiest way to access Quick Fields session analytics is by having them auto-saved into a reporting directory. This path can be set for each session by navigating to Tools > Options and choosing Current Session. Here, parameters such as session name and date can be used to create a dynamic file path.

2. The details complied in the output logs can be modified by navigating to Tools > Options and choosing Output Pane.

I hope this helps!

Many thanks Kathryn, I am hoping to test this configuration and setup out next week, so will post back here with my findings
