Question

Installing Laserfiche on Azure Virtual machine

asked on June 9, 2015

Hello,

Has anyone installed Laserfiche on an Azure Virtual machine? If so,  how have you handled the mac address issue/ Laserfiche license activation (mac address changes every time you shutdown an azure virtual machine).

Regards

Hakim

Hi Hakim,

With the mac address being embedded in the lf.licx file, if this changes it will of course invalidate the license. I guess the solution here is going to have to come from Azure.

Although it looks like this request is something that is already in the pipeline.

Hope this helps!

If you had to run on an Azure VM, I think the only way to make it work is with a startup script that deactivates the license tied to the old MAC and then reactivates with the new MAC.  Not the best situation, but could be workable.

Hi Chris,

Yep I am aware of that, and it still appears to be in Azure Wish list, with no timeline being given by Microsoft sad

I threw in this question on this forum, to see if anyone has managed to overcome this issue.

Hi Hakim,

Cool, yeah Microsoft never seem to commit to timelines! sad

Unless LF change the licensing I can't see how you would overcome this, interested to see where this goes. smiley

Hi Dory,

The update would need to come from Microsoft. Not Laserfiche.

Hi Dory,

I believe Microsoft fixed the problem.

Please can someone from Laserfiche confirm with Microsoft that the issue whereby Azure machines change their HWFP has been resolved? I would post myself but don't know the intricate details of how the HWFP is calculated.

Cheers!

We host our LF in Azure and have not seen any issues with licensing after reboot.

Hi Anthony,

Could you share any information or provide some guidance on how you got LF working with Azure?

Did it just work for you out of the gate?
