Question

Two separate link documents pointing to only one document

asked on June 4, 2015

Hi All,

I have a staff when he sent an email with 2 link documents and when the other party opens same, whether he open the first link or second link, only one document is being opened.

we have forwarded the email to other people and the same result.

Is there a way to know the link document is pointing to which document?

note that it is a pdf document.

When you say "link" do you mean a shortcut that opens in the Client or a Web Access URL?

Hello Miruna,

When composing an email, the user inserted two links of 2 different documents.

However when the other party is opening the links, only one document is opening, that is whichever link he chooses, the same document is opening, not 2 different documents.

Is there a way to know when there an attachment link in an email, to know the exact path in laserfiche.

Are you referring to .lfe shortcuts that are attached to the email or are you referring to URL links to a document that is viewed in Web Access or WebLink?

If you are referring to .lfe shortcuts, then you can open the .lfe file in an XML editor to see what document it is referencing.

If you are talking about URL links, then the entry ID will usually be specified in the URL itself (unless the URL is for a search in Web Access or WebLink).

If you can provide exact examples of the links you're referring to, then that will help determine what may be going on.

See this page about how to open files in another program. You would need to download the files from the email to the Windows file system (i.e. Desktop) first.
