Question

Change metadata in preview pane

asked on June 2, 2015

I think I already know the answer to this, but since I am a new user I wanted to double check.

Is it possible to change the metadata of a document from the preview pane in the folder browser? We are importing a lot of documents that need unique metadata entered. It would be nice to be able to see the document in the preview pane find the data you need, type it into the metadata fields below and then just scroll down to the next document without having to open each individual document.

Thanks!

Hi Brittney,

This isn't something that's possible in the Laserfiche Client, but you can do this in Web Access. However, as a possible alternative when using the Client, you can add the "View Metadata" button to the toolbar (if it's not already there) or create a keyboard shortcut to view the metadata of the currently selected entry. This way you can just click the toolbar button or use the keyboard shortcut to edit the metadata instead of having to open the document entirely.

You could also try opening the document in the document viewer, then using Next Document or Previous Document from the File menu (keyboard shortcuts are Alt + Down Arrow and Alt + Up Arrow ).

Is it still possible to get the document preview and the metadata in Web Client 10.2?

I can't see how to have them both on screen at the same time?
