Question

Web Accelerator minimum/recommended requirements

asked on June 2, 2015

Can someone from Laserfiche clarify my curiosity about the minimum/recommended requirements of the Laserfiche Web Accelerator as detailed on the webpage of the link below:

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/9.2/en-US/AdminGuide/LFAdmin.htm#Web%20Accelerator/Requirements.htm

In addition to the above, the minimum/recommended requirements of Web Access are detailed on the web page of the link below:

https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013525

Obviously Web Access can be used without using the Web Accelerator.

What I do not understand is, when the Web Accelerator in introduced to a Web Access solution, why does the minimum/recommended requirements of the total solution vastly increase where these requirements are not needed when Web Access is used without the Web Accelerator?

First off, the Web Access requirements in the second link should be updated - you can't even buy a server with only 1 GB of RAM anymore.  Web Accelerator will work with lower resources than indicated in the documentation, but the idea is that if you are considering adding Web Accelerator to your solution you are probably trying to support a higher load than the typical Web Access installation, so the recommendations are designed to accommodate that.  In that scenario your Web Access server would have specs much higher than the recommendation.
