Save To Laserfiche from Outlook - error if destination folder has no volume set - 9.2.1.562

asked on June 1, 2015 Show version history

Hello -

We are noticing that when using Save To Laserfiche from Outlook (have tested in 2010 and 2013), if the destination folder in Laserfiche does not have a volume set, you're presented with a red exclamation point in the General tab and choosing a Volume in the drop-down has no effect - the OK button stays grayed out and the email cannot be imported. If the destination folder is set to any volume, this will work normally, and whichever volume you select while importing will be the volume the email is imported to.

Also, if the user does not have Laserfiche open when importing from Outlook, the import will always default to the Default Folder set in the Web Admin Console - with other office apps (like Word or Excel), it remembers whichever folder it last imported to and that folder is initially selected.

This issue seems to be occurring because of that Default Folder for Outlook imports, which I don't remember ever seeing before 9.2.1 - is this expected functionality?

Thanks!

For the benefit of other readers, the issue described by Jim is a bug. (Reference: SCR 126100). It will be fixed in a future release.
The workaround at this time is to use drag and drop or to avoid the issue entirely, to set the volume at the folder properties.

Hi Jim, there used to be an old issue with this.  Can you please open a case so we can look into it further?

Hi Raymond,

I believe one of our users is experiencing this issue. Could you tell me if there is an easy/quick way to set the volumes on all the folder properties?

I tried to set this on the parent folders but it is not filtering down to the subfolders.

Thanks

Tina

Tina, The issue you describe does not appear to be the same issue.  If you use drag and drop, you will not get this behavior.

Hi Raymond,

I am not sure what issue you think I described but I can confirm the user's issue is that when using the outlook add-in to save an item to Laserfiche they are getting  the "no volume is set" issue.

All I was asking is if there is a sql script that can be run to set all folders with the default volume. Instead of setting this for each individual folder.

In the meantime I have told them to drag  & drop

Thanks

Tina

Tina -

If you search for Folders only in the client, you can select all the search results (or any portion of them), then go to Tasks>Set Default Volume. You could also write a workflow and use the Migrate Entry activity.
