Question

Form terminated at User Task when using an email address in the Task Participants

asked on May 26, 2015

We are new to LF so this may be a simple question (I hope).  When I set Task Participants to a Domain\UserID, the form works correctly.  When I set Task Participants to a variable that contains an email address, the form terminates.

Here's an example:

When I review the Variables on the Results, the Supervisor_email contains a valid email address (in this case the email address of CI\pforster).

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

You can only assign a task to a user using their email address if they are a participant user. The reason being that a Participant user's username is their email address. In your case above, the user is a Named User. Named User account usernames are dependent on how they are setup in Laserfiche. In your case, it is the user's domain name. So the variable you use to assign a task to a user for that user needs to contain their username (domain\username).

Are you using Lookup rules? In order to use the email address to assign a user you would have to either create the email field as a drop down with user values assigned, or use lookup rules and fill the user based on email.  I was able to attach the cf_users table from the Forms database on our sql server and return a username based on an email address. <--that will only work though if the users are licensed in Laserfiche/Forms.
