Laserfiche Connector Scanning question

asked on May 25, 2015

I've been trying out the Laserfiche Connector module lately, and I'm having trouble finding the utility of the Scanning sections of it.  From what I can tell, you can configure the module to automatically pull tokens to be used as metadata from an open window - after which, the client scanning module opens automatically.  But a user then still has to select the document by browsing through the Universal Capture scan source and selecting the file in question.  It doesn't seem like it saves as much time as it could.  Is there a way to streamline the process, or am I just overlooking the system's intended function?

Scanning using Laserfiche Connector should be a very quick and simple process for your users.  In my deployments, the user clicks the connector icon, clicks scan, clicks store, then only has to close the application.  I would like to ask, are your users experiencing the same issues when they attempt a traditional scan from within the client?  I would expect each user to have to configure their scan source on the initial running of the web scanning client, however once configured, these settings should be appended to the users attributes and retrieved from the server for future uses of the scanning application.  Try going to a specific user in the LF Admin console, delete all of their attributes, including system attributes, then test to see if the settings are saved after the initial scanning and saving of a document.

You're right that if your users need to get files from their machine into Laserfiche, it would be easier to open the Client and drag the file in. Scanning would be more useful if they had to convert paper documents into Laserfiche documents.

The scanning action in Laserfiche Connector is intended for scanning paper documents, as Miruna notes. We are working on a new action focused on importing documents already on your computer for a future version.
