Question

PDF with 0 Pages tries to download GetFileExport.aspx

asked on May 22, 2015

When trying to open a PDF in WebAccess that contains 0 Pages it is trying to download GetFileExport.aspx. This is only happens when using either Chrome or Firefox. It properly opens the document in a new tab in Internet explorer.

Both Chrome and Firefox allow for Pop-Ups, Adobe Reader is installed (just incase the built in PDF viewers were messing it up)

Versions:

Rio - 9.2.1

WebAccess - 9.2

Latest Version of Chrome and Firefox w/ all Recent Windows Updates.

Not sure what is causing this. Thanks in advance for the help!

The issue is currently an open SCR for both WF and Web Access.  If you open a case with Support, we can link your case to the SCRs so you can be notified when there is a resolution to the issue.

This is a known issue with Firefox and Web Access.  Do you know where the PDF came from?

If you save the file "GetFileExport.aspx" and rename it to <filename>.pdf, then open it in Acrobat, does it work?

The PDF is coming from Web Access, as in I can see it in one of our folders.

If I rename the file to <filename>.pdf it will open, but we have it set to open in a new tab via WebAccess. In IE it opens in a new tab just fine.

Also looking at it in a customer light - I would not want to have to download, rename, then open another piece of software just to view a document :)

You are viewing the document through Web Access but how did it get into Web Access? Was the PDF created by another application then imported into LF?

Was it modified by another process like Workflow?

Are all the PDFs inside Web Access behaving that way?

1) The PDF is being generated via Forms (It is the AP process form) So the form is submitted and then Workflow takes the form data and writes it to a fillable PDF

2) Yes workflow ^^^

3) Yes all PDFs without Pages are acting like this. If the PDF contains Laserfiche Pages then it opens just fine. When it contains 0 Laserfiche Pages it wants to download the aspx file.

If you open the client and go to the PDF in question, then generate LF pages for it, are you able to generate the LF pages?

Yes, if I generate pages on the PDF we can then open the document.

The thing is - IE opens a PDF just fine without needing pages. FireFox and Chrome have the issue.

PS - We are not trying to open these 0 Laserfiche Page documents in the viewer, we want them to open in a new tab via the browser (webaccess). Again, if the PDF already contains Laserfiche pages then this is not an issue at all. It is only on PDFs that contain 0 Laserfiche Pages.

Raymond,

Has there been a hotfix released for this issue?  I'm having the same issue with Fillable PDF files created by Workflow with or without pages.

Thanks,

Nate

There is no hotfix.  It should however be fixed in the Web Access 10 release. Your PDF issue with Workflow sounds like a different issue.  Please open a case with your VAR.
