Upgrading to Agenda Manager 9

asked on May 22, 2015 Show version history

We have upgraded our customer from Agenda 8 to 9.  The instructions are not clear about running the Migration Utility.  It states that "The migration utility should be run on a machine with Word 2007 or 2010 installed."  However, it is unlikely that most servers will have Office installed on them.  Does this mean to run the utility from an individual workstation?  Also, the instructions state:  "In the Migration Utility, under Folder to migrate, browse to the folder where your existing Agenda Manager templates and documents are stored."  Does this refer to the Agenda Manager volume where all of the documents are stored?  I made a copy of my templates and ran the migration on that folder but it did not update them.

Thanks,

When bringing the Migration tool to another machine, be sure to bring the entire Utility Folder found in the default location of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Agenda Manager Server\Utility". Ensure that both the "AddinMigrationUtility.exe" and "log4net.dll" are present. The issue for this case was that the "AddinMigrationUtility.exe" was brought to the machine, but the "log4net.dll" was not.

Hi Jen,

If the Agenda Manager Server computer does not have Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010 installed, then get a copy of the Agenda Manager Volume and save it to a workstation that does have Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010 installed. Then copy the migration utility to that workstation as well and run it from there. The migration process will update the files in the volume as needed as well as make a backup of the original files pre-migration in a separate folder. Once the migration completes, just copy the Agenda Manager volume back to the Agenda Manager server machine, overwriting the old volume.

Regards

Unfortunately, it is not as easy as that in my case, Alex.  I've opened a support call since the Migration Utility is not working.

It seems the issue was that migration utility may not have been properly copied over to the workstation. Please note that all files in the folder need to be copied.

Thanks for your help, Alex and Andrew.

Just a note for anyone needing to upgrade Agenda Manager, it's a whole lot easier if you simply install Word either 2007 or 2010 on the server and run the migration from there!
