Question

Account Access From External Weblink

asked on May 19, 2015

Suppose you have an environment with Weblink setup on two servers.

One is intended for external access (Public Portal) on a server within a DMZ and the second is intended for internal access within the organization.

And you want to restrict access to a named user account so it can only be accessed on the internal Weblink.

Is there any way to prevent specific named user accounts from being accessed on the external Weblink?

Thanks for your help,

I believe you could set up the external site to only allow anonymous login so users wouldn't ever have a way to enter specific user credentials in the first place, but there isn't a way to allow some but not the other. Could you expand on your use case here? Thanks!

Thanks Justin,

There were security concerns over some named user accounts (such as a group access Read account) that have access to folders with sensitive information if the password was ever compromised.  The thought was to prevent some user accounts from being accessed externally, but allow the account to login from the internal site if possible.

A combined Group access account separate from public portal isn't an intended use case, so there isn't functionality in place to support that.
