Question

Check in from WebAccess

asked on May 15, 2015

So I'm trying to create a scenario where a user may Check Out a document from in the office and store it locally on their laptop, take on the road, make changes, then Check In via WebAccess.  However, whenever I do this I get a message in the Laserfiche client when I then go back in to see if I can access saying that the document is in Read Only mode and must be checked out again?  Is this normal...can you not Check Out from the client and then Check In from WebAccess?

Thanks!

I see the problem, is it this message?

When you check the document in from Web Access, the desktop client is left with stale local checkout information that needs to be cleaned up. Check out the document and check it back in from the client to remove the local information.

Yes, that is the message I get.  Is that by design?  So that's something end users will need to be aware of?

I am able to check a document from web access, copy the file from the checkout location on disk, then check it in from the laserfiche client. You must be doing it differently? What version of the client/WA are you using?

I'm using 9.2, however, perhaps our steps are different.  Here's what I'm going:

1) Check-Out the document from the client onto the desktop of a laptop (it's a form fillable PDF).

2) Open the document from the desktop, and make changes to it.

3) Save changes

4) Check the document back in via WebAccess (it asked me to browse to the document I want to check in...I browse to the document on the desktop).

Again, I can check it back in...but then when I go to access it from the client again (from the same laptop), it says it's in Read Only mode.
