Question

Workflow doesn't kick off automatically

asked on May 14, 2015

I have a very simple workflow that moves an entry from one folder to another. Creating an entry with simple starting rule (entry=document, path={path}) doesn't start workflow. Workflow works when run explicitly. Profile is attached to rule correctly as admin . What am I missing? WF is published, rule published. I created the entry with LF Snapshot, or copy/paste, neither works

Thanks

Thanks everyone; the problem was a bit more hidden than expected; when we had ver 8.3, the workflow was set up. Then last year we upgraded to 9.2 (someone from Ricoh did that), and they neglected to change the monitored repository from the old one to the new. I did that through the admin console, and lo and behold, it works with my simple rules. Thanks for all your input

Check out the Subscriber Trace and see how your rule evaluation goes.

I'm guessing you just need to enter the correct Event Type for how an entry will be added or removed from that folder path.  I usually add a few starting rules for each workflow to account for entries being created, moved, or changed.

What is the Event Type for the starting rule?

If it's 'Entry Created', I don't believe copy & paste counts as a 'create' event.   That could be part of it.  If you go into the Workflow Console under 'Monitoring/Subscribers/<subscriber name> it shows you the events and how they were evaluated so you can see what's not working.
