Question

Social bpm won't share post or annoucements

asked on May 7, 2015 Show version history

Hello,

We are testing Social BPM in our company and we found one problem that I don't know if it is an error.

When I went into a comment, at the up right corner, there is a button call "Share this....somentihing", that can be a post, annoucement, or etc. The box that open, it gives a field to put ether e-mail or member of Social BPM site, however , it does not accept any e-mail, only accept to put a member of Social BPM site, but it gives an error when I try to sent it.

Is there any configuration that I am missing?

Thanks for the help.

PS. The configuration site of Social BPM, we configured the e-mail server and there is no error on testing it.

Regards,

Vitor

When you said you tested the email server, did you try it with the email address that you're trying to send the announcement to?  Sometimes email servers have constraints.

You could also check the dbo.Users table in your Social BPM database and double check to see if there's an email address there.

If you're still having problems, you should check the event viewer as well and see what type of error message you're receiving.

Thank you for the tip.

I looked at the event view and I attached. What I got that the problem is "Client does not have permissions to send as this sender", however how is this possible?,  why the client would not have permission to do that?

When you are sharing something, the email will try to send as the person logged in.  If you are getting this message it means that permissions have not been given to send as this sender.  It depends on how your email server is set up.  You should check with your IT department to make sure that the proper permissions are given.

This might help:

Scroll down to the "Setting Permissions by Using ADSI Edit" section.
