Error creating new repository

asked on May 1, 2015

While trying to use the repository creation wizard I run into error 9025 and when checking the event logs the error is "Repository creation error. Cannot create Repository key." Any suggestions?

I am using a service account do this that has the permissions specified by laserfiche which are as follows:

·  To use the Repository Creation Wizard or the Repository Registration Wizard in the Laserfiche Administration Console, the Laserfiche Server must have local administrative rights to the Laserfiche Server machine, regardless of whether or not you have completed the steps above. We recommend temporarily running the service with local administrative to use these wizards, then switching to an account without local administrative rights.

·  Ensure the account used by the Laserfiche Server service has access to read, modify, and delete volume files on the machine(s) hosting Laserfiche volumes.

·  Ensure the account used by the Laserfiche Server service has access to the repository database. For Microsoft SQL Server, the Laserfiche Server must be able to authenticate to the repository database as the database owner. For Oracle Database, the Laserfiche Server must be able to authenticate as a user with specific privileges, each of which are explained in the Laserfiche Administration Help files

Make sure the account logged onto the Laserfiche Server service has rights to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software in the Registry.

Please make sure that the account you're using has rights to the registry. It sounds like it can't write what it needs under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

I have the same problem.

In the admin console the maximum repositories allowed value is 15.

I have a functioning internet connection and tried to restart the service, nothing change.

I'm also getting the same error when trying to register a new repository. I am the admin on the machine so I don't think its a rights issue, but I could be wrong. Is this something to do with the database???

Hi Joseph, what is the exact version of Laserfiche being used? Check the Application event viewer log for any relevant messages.

Using LF10. I checked out the Event Viewer and realized that I'm having permission problems when the wizard is trying to create the repository. Here's the error:

Description:
There was an error creating the Laserfiche repository "DGA". Function=CREATE DATABASE [DGA]; Error=0x106; [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.

Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

The message indicates that the account logged onto the Laserfiche Server service does not have enough rights in SQL. Try giving the account the sysadmin role in SQL then see if you can create a new repository.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the prompt response. I gave it sysadmin rights, but still getting the same error. Below is the screenshot:

You are using your Windows account for the Laserfiche Server service? Is SQL installed on the same machine as the LF Server? Please attach the Application Event log, unfiltered and saved as a .evtx file.

Yes, I'm authenticating via Windows, and the LF Server is on the same machine as the SQL Sever. It's refusing to attach the evtx log file, saying that only certain file extensions are accepted

Can you please open a Case through the Support Site and attach the log to the case?

I've realized that my IIS doesnt have Windows Authentication. Does anyone know how I can enable it. In my setting it just has "Basic Authentication".

Do I need to upgrade to Win 10 Professional to get Windows Authentication?
