Connector instability on VDI desktops

asked on April 29, 2015

Our users are primarily on VMware View virtual desktops (Windows 7, 64-bit), with just a couple of physical PCs left over. Connector is working fine on the physical PCs, but we're having stability issues on the VDI desktops. Sometimes the Connector works properly, other times it seems to hang or lose its ability to pick up window changes. I've tried using the trace option and all I see when it malfunctions is nothing, i.e. the logging basically stops. When the app gets in this state if you close the target app (IE, for instance) you get leftover button artifacts on the screen and the only way to get rid of them is to kill LFC.exe with Task Manager. Using the "Exit" function from the tray icon doesn't work - just leaves the menu on the screen - again, with little in the trace log to indicate what's happening.

Temporarily uninstalling the View Agent seems to resolve the issue, but the Agent is required in my View environment so that's not a solution for me. I've sent this info and the trace log to my VAR, but figured I'd ask here in case anyone is successfully using Connector with View desktops.

Are the Laserfiche Connector installed in physical computer and remote apps in VDI desktop, OR the Laserfiche Connector and the apps both in VDI desktop?

Thanks if you provide more information for the issue.

The Connector and apps are in the same VDI instance. Users access the VDI desktop via a zero client, so there really is no "local" computing environment.

Just a quick update to say the 9.0.1 release is proving to be a lot more stable. I'm continuing to test, but so far I haven't been able to reproduce the failures I was seeing with 9.0.
