Question

Why do I get a different LF Scan UI for users on shared machine

asked on April 28, 2015

LF client is installed on a shared scan station to which users log in using Windows authentication.  The issue I'm seeing is that the Scan user interface is different between users.

The first user sees:

  a) 7 settings categories for File/Options (General, Help, Prompts, Navigation, Scanned Documents, etc.)

  b) A View/Panes option and the ability to display Configuration and Revision panes

Other users (in a different group) see:

 a) Only 3 options under "File/Options": (General, Help, and Scanned Document)

 b) No 'Panes' item under the 'View' menu on the menu bar, and no Config/Revision panes

Both users show version 9.0.2.676 of Scan (as you would expect, since the client is only installed once on the machine).  I'm at a loss to explain what could be causing this.

Laserfiche Scanning can be opened in Basic or Standard mode.

This option is saved in a user attribute so each user would have their own option for this and also could have the dialog hidden depending on if the user had checked the "Don't ask me again" box. If you want the user to choose which scanning mode they want to use, you can just have them go into the Client to Tools > Options > Reset > Prompts and make sure that the "Scan mode" confirmation is checked.

Thanks - that's it.  I have to toss a few softballs out there once in a while :-)

How about marking the thread as answered to give Alex the points for knocking it out of the park then? wink
