Laserfiche Forms on Android

asked on April 23, 2015 Show version history

There seems to be some minor discrepancies with the way Forms is translated between a desktop Web Browser, and an Android Tablet (technically speaking; it is an HP Slate 21 Pro).

I have a Form configured for a doctor's office, and the Form will be used for incoming patients who will use the glorified tablet to fill it out, and it will then be uploaded to their Patient Intake folder. The discrepancy lies in the Signature field. On a desktop Web Browser, you can either sign it with your mouse/cursor, or you can type in your signature and then it generates an auto-cursive signature: both of these are determined by two tabs at the top, one for Type and one for Draw. However, on the Android Tablet, you can use the mouse or your finger as it is a touch-screen, but there is no option to "type" like on the desktop's Web Browser.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there some option in the tablet that I am missing, or was something missed during the generation of the Form?

Hi there,

For touch device, signature only supports 'Draw' option. For desktop version, signature supports both 'Type' and 'Draw' options. This is because desktop 'Draw' may be hard to use mouse.

What's your use case to use 'Type' for a tablet when 'Draw' is available?

For the patient who's handwriting is illegible, having the "type" option would be nice. I personally don't mind the "draw" option, but the owners at the client I was working at were asking why it wasn't available. If this is the way it is, then I can tell them that. That makes sense, and they'll just have to accept it. Thank you.

Hi Caleb,

We can add the type to sign in next release of Mobile app. We didn't include that use case in the first release, but thank you for the feedback, we'll add that.
