Question

Migrar Oracle 12c

asked on April 20, 2015

Buenas tardes,

Saludos.,

We have done migrations to upgraded versions of Oracle a few times. I assume this is on a new server as well. I am not the DBA that did this, but I can give you the basics. There are 2 ways to do this:

  1. Upgrade the current 10g database to 12c (32-bit) in place, then backup/restore it to the new 64-bit server
  2. Backup 10g database and run an upgrade command on the new 12c server. According to this page, there is an article provided by Oracle for restoring an older version to a newer version. I don't have a current Oracle support log in to access the necessary Oracle Note.

  1. Backup current database
  2. build new server with new version of Oracle
  3. Choose option 1 or 2 from above
  4. Upgrade the oracle client installed on the Laserfiche server
  5. Restart Laserfiche server (or just services)
  6. Test

One thing to note is that the Laserfiche Server does not support the Oracle 12 client. You must use the Oracle 11.2.0.3 client with LFS when connecting to an Oracle 12 server.

Y se puede instalar Oracle 11.2.0.3 a 64 bits?

You should install the Oracle 11.2.0.3 64-bit client if LFS is running on 64-bit Windows. Oracle 11.2.0.3 is compatible with Oracle 12 and you can install both the Oracle 11.2 and Oracle 12 clients on the same machine if you want. Do not use the Oracle 12 client with LFS -- you must use the Oracle 11.2.0.3 client with LFS.

Our customer have a LFS 9.2 running on Windows Server 2012 64-bit, his database repository runs over Oracle 10g Release 2 32-Bit (10.2.0.3). In order to take advantage of Oracle 12c new features customer wants to know if he can upgrade his Oracle version to 12c 64-Bit. He won't change or uninstall Oracle 11.2.0.3 client that LFS uses to connect to repository

LFS supports Oracle 12c server on all platforms that Oracle Corporation does, so your customer can upgrade their Oracle server to Oracle 12c 64-bit. LFS even supports Oracle servers hosted on Linux, Solaris, and other operating systems.
