Question

import email with attachments

asked on April 20, 2015

If I pull emails into Laserfiche that have documents attached, and choose “Leave in and File Copy” as the default, does it take up extra space?  I want to avoid having the attachment in Laserfiche twice (once in email & once separate), but I have found value in separating them.  So, does it actually copy twice, or does it create a link (or shortcut) between the two files?

It copies twice.

If you use "Leave in and Separate Document" it will indeed take up space as it creates the attached document as a separate entry in Laserfiche and additionally embeds the data in the original email file.

It will create a document relationship link between the two documents but you open the file directly from the email, it's not opening up that second entry, just the embedded data.

If you wish to separate the two, an not have it take up extra space by also having it embedded in the message then use the below setting. This will create two entries and relationship via the metadata document link "attachment/message".

Anyone know if you can set 'separate document' as a default setting?
