Question

When printing only the top left are of the page is printed, the rest is gone

asked on April 16, 2015

I am having an issue where with specific documents only the top portion of the page prints (about 15% of the entire document). These are native LF files in TIF format, they usually always print what is on screen. I would normally need to zoom in first to print only part of the document. Most print settings are global not document based so I am not sure what to look for.

2550x3300 is the typical image size for an 8.5x11 inch, 300 dpi image. Can you confirm that the image dpi is 300? Perhaps it's something much lower which then makes the physical size of the image much larger than 8.5x11 inches?

You can open a support case and send us a briefcase of the image. Perhaps you can also provide a screenshot of the image size information as shown in the Client for that problematic page here. See below. Note that we don't need to actually see the image, just its information that's found in the lower right corner of the window. If you don't see that image information, make sure you place the cursor focus on the Image pane.

A support case was opened and a briefcase of the image was provided. The page is 2550 x 3300, 96 x 96 DPI. Therefore, this image comes out to be 26.5625 x 34.375 inches and that's why when printing without the "Scale to fit" option, you only see the top left corner of the page on a standard 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper.

The reseller was asked to look into how the images were created in the first place to get at the root cause of the matter.

Ok, I see. I have never run into an image where the dpi did not match up with the resolution and never knew it had to for the defaults to work. I am checking with the customer to see how this is happening.

What is the size and resolution of the image you are printing? Perhaps it is larger than a standard 8.5 x 11 page. If that's the case, then go into Tools > Options > Print > Images and make sure the the "Size" option under the "Image Arrangement" section is set to "Scale to fit."

Also, confirm that you are not zoomed in on that part of the page in the document viewer and may have the following option set:

That may result in you only getting part of the page printed.

The resolution is the same as my other documents, 2550x3300. If I set Scale to Fit then the document prints normally. Zoomed area of page does not take effect since we are printing zoomed all the way out so that the full page can be viewed on the monitor. Looks like I need to create a support ticket and upload the briefcase. I don't know what is different about these documents that require Scale to Fit in order to print properly.
