Question

Feature Request: Re-add the close program prompt.

asked on April 16, 2015

In the Laserfiche client 9.2.0 there is a prompt that asks you if you are sure you want to exit Laserfiche. This prompt has been removed in 9.2.1. I would like to reuqest that this feature be added back to the Client.

To bring back this feature for Client 10, I believe you need to add this trustee attribute:

[Settings]EnableExitPrompt

Set it to Yes to bring back the prompt on exit.

Since there's so much interest, we'll look into adding it back for the next version, at least in an optional manner.

That is why there was the check box in options that allowed users to disable the prompt. It is important to us as it prevents accidentally closing the program and then waiting for it to re-open and find the repository. Granted this is only a 30 second process, but it is still a pain to go through that process rather than just clicking "No" to not close Laserfiche.

If it is taking 30 seconds to launch, try unchecking "Scan network for repositories" by right clicking on the repository list.

I have 9.2.0.472. Go to Tools>Options>Reset>Prompts. Make sure to check the "Exit program" box.

Hi Drew and Derek,

We removed this because users had complained about having to always click OK on this specific dialog, especially as it doesn't cause you to lose data or anything unrecoverable like that. Can you explain why it's important to you? Thanks!

It gives the user more control of the client. Also, If you are renaming a folder and click the X before clicking away it will revert back to the previous folder name. Maybe the feature could be disabled at default instead of removed completely?

You should be able to press ESC to cancel folder renaming.

Hi Guys,

I would like to add my thoughts to this feature request also.

We have found that not only as a company using it but our clients would like to see this prompt reinstated. We find it helps if you have multiple windows open and click to close laserfiche by accident then it is nice to be prompted before doing so, especially if you have a working document open.

If this could be added back as a checkbox then surely it would keep both sides happy?

Many thanks

Tina

Dears,

Sorry for reviving this thread, unfortunately many of our clients find the "Exit Program" prompt really beneficial, and knowing that this feature was removed annoyed them.

It wouldn't heart if it is there, specially that the user that does not want this prompt can simply choose "Don't ask me again"

Kindly consider adding it back.

Thanks,

Georges

I would just like to add my request to add the "Exit Program" prompt.  I upgraded my own computer to v. 9.2.1.562 and it is not available.  I have not upgraded the masses yet, but this is a feature my users will want so they don't accidentally close the entire program.  If it is offered as an "option" then that will please those who DO want the feature and those who do NOT want the feature.  Thank you for considering everyone's request to add this back!

I see this was not added to version 10. Can someone tell me in what version the "Exit Program" prompt will be available?

Thanks

Tina

Hi Tina,

I believe it is present in v10, but needs to be enabled by a user attribute. Most of us are at Empower 2016 right now, so we'll have to follow up with you next week as to the attribute in question, which we'll post here. Wanted to confirm that it is there at least, though.
