Question

Workflow Server Firewall Ports

asked on April 15, 2015

Hi All,

I can find lots of documentation regarding what ports need to be open on the firewall for Laserfiche clients to communicate with the LF server and other options like Web Access and Forms but nothing for Workflow.

What ports are needed to be open between the Laserfiche server and Workflow server/s if they are on separate servers? (V9.2)

Cheers!

Here are the port numbers you need, depending on the version:

  • version 8.0 : 8081, 8082, 8083, 8084, 8086
  • version 8.3 : 8085
  • version 9: 8085 + IIS port (80) for business processes

Those are of course the default ports.  They are changeable to anything you want so if you need to change firewall passthroughs, you need to make sure that you are doing it for the actual ports in use, not the default ones.

You can find the list of other ports used by LF here:

I found this in the help file :-

Create a Windows Firewall exception: Depending on your Windows settings, Windows Firewall may automatically block port 8085, which the Workflow Server uses to communicate with other Workflow components. Check this option to ensure that Windows Firewall does not block Workflow.

Are there any other ports or just 8085?

There's also the workflow Web API ports but they are set in IIS.

Hi Ben,

Yeah that's right. But I'm not really interested in the web components just the server components.

Thanks though!

No worries Chris. During installation I've only seen an option for port 5050 (and the ability to change it). I'd be interested to know if there's more as well. I wonder if it needs access to the license manager server or just a repository server...
