Question

ProgramData Files increase over 20 GBs

asked on April 14, 2015 Show version history

I understand Quickfields stores docs temporarily under "C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quickfields\Files". I am wanting to know what would prevent the service account from deleting these temp files. We currently have an issue where one of the folders is over 20 GB. Are we able to delete these temp docs (this is not my main question I am looking to get answered)? When exactly are these documents stored and deleted from the temp location? Are these most likely a result of unidentified documents? Could there be a case if no documents were stored as unidentified documents within a QF session?

What does the First Folder of a QF Session store? See screenshot (Folder "5").

The Queue folder stores the image and electronic documents as they are coming from the scan engine (Capture Engine, Universal Capture, scanner) before they are processed.

The BXD folder contains the XML definition for documents as they are identified by the Quick Fields session.

The "5" folder contains the processed images, text, electronic files.

The queue is emptied out as the documents are being processed. The other 2 are emptied out as documents are sent to Laserfiche (either when the user presses Send in Quick Fields or when Quick Fields Agent automatically sends the documents).

If the session is run through Quick Fields Agent, there might be invalid documents that can't be sent to Laserfiche that are stuck in it. You should be able to see that in the schedule run properties in the Agent's Admin Console.

On a busy Quick Fields Agent, especially if you're processing lots of documents through Capture Engine and you haven't set any processing limits, it is possible that 20GB is a normal size for Quick Fields' folder.

Is there any one folder that is large or do you have lots of session folders in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Files adding up to 20GB?

Hi Miruna,

What are the files that are in this temp queue? Failed files? Are these safe to delete?

No, they're the documents waiting to be processed or already processed and waiting to be sent to Laserfiche.

Ok. So they are the files which may have failed and are in Quickfields. Once we clear them out then they should be gone from the Program Data folder.

Yes, it is specifically coming from one of the Quickfields Session folders and within the 5 Folder is what has over 20 GB.

They are set up with Quickfields Agent.
