Question

Comment field in weblink

asked on April 13, 2015

Hi,

I have a client who wish to use weblink for their statements and invoices as well as site files for their clients to view. They want to know if it is possible to have a comment field in weblink where a client can enter a comment or maybe even a drop down with a yes/no selection with date?

Thanks

Gert

Hey Gert,

Thanks for the question.

WebLink is designed as a window into a repository so that users can view content: WebLink publishes documents in a Laserfiche repository to an intranet or the Internet in read-only form.

If you want users to be able to make changes, add metadata and annotations, etc., then might I recommend checking out Web Access.

This gives users a way to access the repository content, with almost all the functionality that you would get from the installed Client. They will be able to find their content, add metadata, make comments and approvals, invoke Business Processes, all under the security configurations applied to that users login.

This access is available via the common web browsers as well as on mobile devices too using the mobile App.

If you have more questions, let me know!

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your reply. I am using Web Access.

Just wanted to make sure regarding WebLink. It will be for a client of mine that has about 1200 Clients to View their Documents, but wanted to know if their could be a comment box or anything, but i can see it is not possible. Reason they don't want to use Web Access is  the client can't use their own logo on Web Access.

Thanks

Hi Gert,

With the Forms public portal add-on, you could empower users to fill a Form and submit it to Laserfiche, and that could also allow you to have approvals and Workflows that would add comments for you to documents.

It depends on the business requirements, but you could allow users to identify a document they viewed in WebLink, then submit a Form for that document indicating some kind of approval or decision.

Thanks,
