I've had our IT Services create new Active Directory groups but when I sync none of the names appear. We have other groups that sync properly - is there something special to be done on the AD side to make this work?

OK, the rule is what I'm missing. (I tried searching for a License manager guide and didn't find one so I was just winging it.) I see from browsing Answers there's some info in the Rio Deployment Guide and that has cleared up how to setup the rules. I now have the rules setup , but I had already manually added the users - does that matter?

When you manually add users, they have the setting "Exempt form synchronization rules" automatically enabled.
What this will mean down the line is that the license assignment for the users you have manually added would not be affected by changes to AD group membership.
If you want to make sure that the users you've manually added are affected by the AD sync rules, you can select the users you added and change that setting.
Thanks for the update - good to know. I have reset them.

I'm a little unclear what action you are taking. Are you adding a new group in AD, then clicking "Synchronize" for the active directory synchronization? If there are are new active directory groups, you will need a new active directory group synchronization rule for each of the new groups: we do not automatically create a rule for groups. The only exception is if these were created under existing groups (e.g., you added an "Interns" group within a "Sales" group).
