Question

Weblink Browse Sorting

asked on April 6, 2015

Is there a way to set the sorting descending in the Browse View for Weblink only on certain folders for the public user?  For example, Folder 1 sorts a-z, Folder 2 sorts z-a.  How can I achieve this?

Thanks

Jen

Hi Jen,

While you can set the columns for individual folders, you can’t choose individual sorting methods. You can set up the user view for your public user in the Client. Then, when the public user logs into the repository, the attributes will carry over for that user. When the user is logged in, they can easily click on the folder column to sort from top to bottom or bottom to top, easily choosing their own sorting methods.

User attributes include options such as folder tree and document viewer preferences. You can read more about user attributes in the help files here.

For more information about setting up user attributes for column views, check out these Answers Posts here and here

Thanks,

Ashley

I just had another customer request this functionality as well.  Laserfiche should consider adding this to future releases of Weblink.  The main issue is when there are documents stored in folders that are named with the year.  By default, the oldest folder will be displayed at the top instead of the most current.  It's not a solution to set the sorting descending because other folders in a repository should be sorted ascending.

Thanks for your help, Ashley.
