We are using Adobe PDF forms and Laserfiche. Staff copies a PDF form from one folder into another folder to create a new PDF. Workflow has them enter in a case# that completes a db lookup to populate fields. it then passes through the edit process of the Form in WF and in the end it adds the signatures by clicking in the signature box (Topaz PDF). When everything is done it creates a TIFF and the PDF is deleted.
With that said, how does everyone else out there handle PDF forms inside of Laserfiche so they can adhere to, if any, the licensing requirements by Adobe? There are things on the web that talks about 500 form limitations. One site talks about Reader X and extended forms. It states that Acrobat users can type in non-fillable forms, add comments, and digitally sign PDFs without extending special rights. On another site Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro, each allow Adobe Reader 8 or later users to fill in and save PDF forms locally. The use of the Reader Extensions capability for local saving of PDF forms (called extended documents) is limited in two ways. Number of deployed extended documents and number of recipients of the ended documents. So I don't get the 500 page limitation.
If we are using LF to create the PDF inside of LF, update the form that is opened from inside LF, sign the form that is opened from inside LF, to saving it as a TIFF in the end... how does this scenario play with the Adobe licensing? We are not taking any of the data captured to update an external database.
