Question

Audit Trail logs

asked on March 24, 2015

Dear All,

Currently we are experiencing an issue with the save logs file.

Below is our current setting:

Note that we are getting continuous 50MB being created everyday and several copies of it.

This is not the issue in the creation of the log file, however our concern is that, those files are not being deleted automatically after a period of time.

Is there any setting for that?

Currently audit trail data are being save for 90 days.

any clues of why it is not deleting automatically

The Audit trail data log files (in most cases) should never be deleted.  If you delete the log files, you no longer have the audit data to prove you complied with regulations.  If the Audit logs are growing too rapidly, then look into pruning down what activities that you are auditing.

As Bert says, nobody should be deleting audit log files from the server.  If this is about a problem with the Audit Trail reporting tool not cleaning up temp files, please talk to your reseller about opening a support case so we can take a closer look.  There may also be useful information in the event viewer on the Audit Trail machine.
