9030 error happening regularly

asked on March 23, 2015

It seems like the more the Town is using Laserfiche, the more often this issue is happening.  Specifically, when we try and go into Laserfiche, we get the 9030 error that says the maximum number of licences has been exceeded.  Now, I know the solution for me has always been to run a shrink on the actual database, followed by restarting the Laserfiche Server service, but this seems to be a pretty regular occurrence.

Does anyone have a routine set of scheduled tasks they run to eliminate this problem?  I was thinking of possibly scheduling a regular "shrink" of our main Laserfiche repository, however unless it happens right at the same time as the Laserfiche Server service is restarted, it might not work (and the database and Laserfiche repositories are on two different servers).

Please let me know if any of you might have suggestions - thanks!

A couple things. Which file is the one expanding? Assuming it is the transaction log you have two choices. Do transaction log backups more often(this empties the file) or turn off transaction logging by turning the Recovery Type to simple in database options. Note by changing the recovery type you lose the ability to do point in time SQL restores. If the transaction logs are not getting backed up regularly and you are manually flushing them out it does not really matter though.

You could work around it by doing a manual shrink every so often in a maintenance plan, but it would be best the address the underlying issue.

Hi Marty,

Have you opened a case with our help desk to address this issue yet?

Thanks,

I haven't, but I can send one their way now - thanks!

When I figure out what fixed it, I'll be sure to include it here if anyone has a similar issue moving forward.
